About

Dsquared2 is a fashion label helmed by twin brothers Dean Caten and Dan Caten, who are graduates of Parsons The New School of Design in New York City. In 1986, they launched their first signature womenswear collection, DEanDAN. By 1988 they had signed on to the label Ports International (currently Ports 1961) as creative directors. In doing so they brought the company more fashion forward and upscale. At the same time, Dean and Dan designed for their leisure brand, Tabi International. In 1991, the brothers moved to Milan, Italy where they worked as designers for the house of Gianni Versace and the denim brand Diesel. In 1994, they debuted their men's collection and in 2003, they launched a women's collection and a men's underwear collection. The line combines outdoorsy details with a glam-rock aesthetic which has been worn by several celebrities such as Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Ricky Martin, Nicolas Cage and Fergie. The brothers are known for designing clothes and staging elaborate fashion shows with "explosive energy and sex appeal." In 2007, the brothers opened their flagship store in Milan, complete with an exclusive champagne bar, while also subsequently launching locations in Capri, Kiev, Istanbul, and Hong Kong that same year.
