Versace is an Italian fashion house founded by the late Gianni Versace in 1978. The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan's Via della Spiga in 1978 as its popularity was immediate. Today, Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion houses as it has come to epitomize and define what is over-the-top sexiness and glamour. There are several lines which make up the Versace Group including Gianni Versace Couture, Versace Jeans Couture, Versace Home Collection, Versus and Versace Collection. In addition to clothing and accessories, it also operates a hotel, the Palazzo Versace in Australia. Versace has many fans among well-known celebrities: Madonna, Ashton Kutcher, Britney Spears, and Christina Aguilera. After Versace’s death in 1997, his sister Donatella Versace took the reins of management and currently oversees every collection under the company. Since then, the label has taken the fashion industry by storm with Donatella's independent, strong woman inspired collections while at the same time making it look sexy, fierce, and chic.
