Patrick Demarchelier was born near Paris on August 21, 1943.   In 1975, he left Paris for New York where he discovered fashion photography. In 1992, Demarchelier worked for Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar which lasted for nearly 12 years.  Demarchelier shot international advertising campaigns for Dior, Louis Vuitton, TAG Heuer, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, LaCoste, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Since the late 1970s he has shot covers for nearly every major fashion magazine including Vogue, Vogue British and Vogue Paris, Rolling Stone, Glamour, Elle and Mademeoiselle.  In 1978, Demarchelier photographed the late Farah Fawcett. In 1982 he photographed Brooke Shields and in 1992 he photographed Christy Turlington. Since 1992, Demarchelier has worked with Harper’s Bazaar becoming the magazine’s premier photographer. Demarchelier has lived in New York City since 1975 with his wife Mia and their children.
