Laura Mulleavy is an American designer and co-founder of Rodarte. Founded in Pasadena in 2005, Rodarte is ran by Laura and her sister Kate. The first collection that Rodarte designed appeared on the February 2005 cover of Women’s Wear Daily. The brand was awarded the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award in 2005, and in fall of 2006 were the runner-up in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fun competition. Since the brands launch in 2005, the line has been nominated for many awards since they launched in 2005, and in 2008 were awarded the CFDA Swarovski Emerging Womenswear Designer award. The brand has been worn by familiar faces such as Natalie Portman, Michelle Obama, Chloe Sevigny, and Reese Witherspoon. Rodarte is carried by retailers including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Barney’s. The brand has become very popular with the press and has been featured on the cover of more than 20 international publications including Vogue.
