Brian Atwood, a Chicago native, attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Upon graduation, Atwood began modeling in Europe but it was short lived due to his passion for shoe designing. In 1996, he was hired by Gianni Versace in Milan, eventually getting promoted to chief designer of women’s accessories. During his time at Versace he mastered his technique and creativity in shoe design and brand identity. In 2001, he launched his own label consistently creating timeless designs with the most intricate skins, fringe and jewels. In 2003, he received the CFDA Swarovski’s Perry Ellis Award for Accessory Design. In 2007, Bally, the Swiss luxury label, named Atwood their new creative director. His first collection debuted one year later.
