  Carolina Herrera, born María Carolina Josefina Pacanins y Niño, is a fashion designer and entrepreneur.  Herrera designed her first collection as a test in 1980, and received such good feedback that she and her family moved from Caracas, Venezuela to New York City. In 1981 Herrera launched Carolina Herrera Ltd. Her line gradually expanded to include a fragrance line and the flagship store opened in 2000 on Madison Avenue. CH Carolina Herrera is a diffusion collection in Europe and has plans to expand the stores to the United States as well as parts of Asia. Herrera’s creations are constantly featured in fashion magazines.  Herrera has styled for some of the biggest names in fashion, such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. In 2008, Herrera was the recipient of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award for over 25 years of excellence as a fashion designer.
