Lazaro Hernandez, along with partner Jack McCollough, are the design team behind the high-end line of womenswear line, Proenza Schouler. Founded in 2002, the pair blended their mothers' maiden names to come up with their brand's unique title. Proenza Schouler’s designs are typically sporty and youthful mixed with the occasional mod elements. The label offers an edgy youthful take on upscale dressing. Hernandez and McCollough met at Parsons The New School for Design, and interned with Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs respectively. They teamed up to create a collection for their senior year runway show; it was such a hit, buyers snapped it up directly off the runway. It is their creativity and spin on the classics which has made them such a success with women of all ages. For Spring 2007, the design duo created an affordable collection of clothing and accessories for Target’s Go International line. Stores that sell Proenza Schouler's full-priced line include Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman.
