Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga (did you really think that was her real name?), has dominated the scene with her unique, outrageous get-ups and performances. With her catchy tunes, a collaboration with stylist and designer Nicola Formichetti , and a personality like no other, it is hard to escape the Haus of Gaga. Lady Gaga was born and raised in New York and gained a passion for music at an early age. At age 4, she learned to play the piano by ear. For high school, she attended the private school Convent of the Sacred Heart. Gaga is extremely outspoken about her experiences there as an outsider. She often uses her fame as a platform to help others; she tells her fans to embrace their differences like she did. In 2005, Gaga dropped out of New York University after her first year to pursue music full time. She performed in various dive bars and burlesque clubs in the Lower East Side. In 2008, Gaga released her highly successful first studio album, The Fame. Along with her songs, Gaga soon becomes known for her elaborate outfits that include hair bows and raw meat. She continues to be outspoken on subjects such as gay rights and is known for being fiercely loyal to her fans, who she calls her “little monsters”. Thanks to her unique, in-your-face sense of style, Gaga was awarded with the CFDA Fashion Icon award in 2011. That award did not escape controversies, however, with some people like Grace Jones calling her unoriginal. Nonetheless, Lady Gaga continues to dominate the media. She has modeled memorable covers of Harper’s Bazaar, GQ Italia, V, and more. Additionally, she has appeared in advertisements for M.A.C. In 2011, Gaga released her third album, Born This Way. While The Fame consisted of many pantless outfits, Born This Way consists of many facial prosthetics. With her ever-changing costumes, people are always on their heels to see what she will conjure up next.
