Karolina Kurkova

Karolina Kurkova was born in Decin, Czech Republic. Often teased for her height, a friend suggested sending 15 year old Kurkova’s photos to a modeling agency. That year, she booked her first runway show, along with appearances in commercial and print advertisements. Hoping to gain more experience, Kurkova moved to Milan and caught the eye of prominent fashion designer,Miuccia Prada. In 1999, her career took a significant turn as soon as Prada signed Kurkova to an exclusive Prada/Miu Miu contract. To date, Kurkova has been one of the youngest models to appear on the cover of Vogue. Her image began appearing in every major fashion publication worldwide and Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, declared Kurkova the “next supermodel." and renowned photographer, Mario Testino, stated that she was the model “who could fit almost into any moment.” With such acclaimed responses, Kurkova soon began to work with other well-known fashion photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier and Karl Lagerfeld. In 2001, she walked her first annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show. Since then, Kurkova has become most famous for being one of the Victoria Secret Angels; she's continued to walk for the lingerie company consecutively for nine years.
