Model

Born in Kiev, Ukraine, UA

Milla Jovovich is originally from Kiev, Ukraine. When Jovovich was 5 years old, her and her family left the Soviet Union for political reasons and moved to London.  Having learning English in three months, Jovovich grabbed the attention of photographer, Richard Avedon. At eleven, he featured her in Revlon’s “Most Unforgettable Women of the World,” advertisements. By 1987, she began to get recognition. At 12, Jovovich booked her first cover for an Italian fashion magazine, Lei. Within months, she booked covers of all the major fashion magazines at the time, including Elle, and the now-defunct Mademoiselle. In 1988, Jovovich appeared in her first film, “Two Moon Junction” and was nominated for Best Young Actress Starring in a Motion Picture Award. The industry began to compare her with actress Brooke Shields, another child model-turned actress. Soon, she began to star in more films such as “Return to the Blue Lagoon,” “Dazed & Confused,” “The Fifth Element,” and most notably, “Resident Evil.” In 2002, Jovovich was infamously known to be the muse of Miuccia Prada and in 2003, Harper’s & Queen magazine claimed that she was Gianni Versace’s favorite supermodel. Jovovich and friend Carmen Hawk, launched a fashion line titled Jovovich-Hawk, which gained much acclaim. She continues to be a much sought-after model, most recently becoming the face of Ann Taylor, Tiffany, and L'Oreal.
