Carla Bruni is a force to be reckoned with; as one of the most highly paid supermodels of the 1990s, she was a favorite of designers such as Dior and Chanel, and graced the covers of major fashion magazines over 250 times. When Bruni phased out of modeling, she moved into another wildly successful career as a musician. Her debut album produced a best-selling single, sold over a million copies, and won her France's equivalent of a Grammy. Most recently, Bruni has been at the center of a media maelstorm due to her marriage to French President, Nicolas Sarkozy. As the First Lady of France, Bruni has become the country's style icon, known as much for her impeccable style, as her outspoken nature. Her latest venture is heading the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation, which provides scholarships for college art students to participate in exchange programs between Paris and New York City.
