Designer Vivienne Westwood was originally a primary school teacher in North London.  In 1971, Westwood opened her first shop with partner, Malcolm McLaren, in London, called “Let It Rock” then renamed it to “Too Fast To Live, Too Young To Die” and later to “SEX” in 1974.  Five years later, she opened an additional shop in London, called “World’s End.”  In 1981, she had her first catwalk show, the Pirate Collection, shown at Olympia.  In the Late 1980s, Westwood was named one of the top six designers in the world along with Giorgio Armani, Karl Lagerfeld, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix and Emanuel Ungaro.  From 1989 until 1991, Westwood worked as a Professor of Fashion at Vienna Academy of Arts.  From 2004 to 2005 Westwood’s work was shown at a major retrospective at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.  Most recently, Westwood designed Sarah Jessica Parker's remarkable wedding gown in the movie, Sex and The City.
