Thomas Ford, began his career working in Paris for six months as an intern in Chloé's press office. Later, Ford moved to Milan to work for Gucci as the women’s ready-to-wear designer.  Two years later he was appointed as the design director and in 1994 he became the creative director.  In 2000, the Gucci Group acquired Yves Saint Laurent and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty and in result, Ford worked with all creative teams within both companies.  In 2002, he was named chairman of the management board for the Gucci Group.  After leaving Gucci, he opened the Tom Ford fashion house and later partnered through a continuing partnership with Marcolin S.p.A.  In 2007, Ford’s first flagship store opened in New York followed by his first international boutique in Switzerland.  Ford has received several awards and recognitions in fashion including four from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1996, 2001, 2002 and 2004, five VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, the Style Icon Award in 1999, Best Fashion Designer according to TIME Magazine and GQ Designer of the Year in 2001.
