Guzman

Photographer

Introduction Guzman is actually a team, not just one artist, between a husband and wife, Connie Hansen and Russell Peacock. They have been known to be behind the “white background and perfectly clean lines” type of pack shot. After working together for some time they decided to fabricate a creature or character named Guzman to represent the both of them, even though it was just them two. That is when Guzman was born and they have become two renowned photographers. Career Highlights Connie started as a still life photographer meanwhile Russell was traveling through Europe as a floating sculptor. She hired him as an assistant and then came to realize that he had an eye for shooting and then hired him to be a photographer. Later, they decided that they wanted to pursue a career in fashion and portraits. Guzman started by shooting Debbie Harry’s album cover and photography for the Village Voice and Interview. Later, the French advertising realm discovered the two and left New York City to live in a chain of hotels in Paris. It was then that Europe had become captivated with retouching, where Guzman gave their subject matters a dreamlike appearance. After their hotel adventure, they became famous for their work. Personal Life Connie and Russell started as work associates when Connie hired him as an assistant. After, they became a couple and got married. They came up with Guzman to have someone represent them both. They believe that women can be strong in a man’s world, although in the fashion world, the women are in control and the men are the objects.
