Designer Diane von Furstenberg is the creator of her eponymous clothing line. She's most famous for designing the iconic wrap dress, which made its debut in 1970s. A mainstay of chic women's wardrobes, her dress is still produced by her line today. In 1976, her success earned her the cover of Newsweek which declared her to be an icon of female liberation, as well as the most marketable designer since Coco Chanel. Von Furstenberg stepped away from fashion for several years and in 1997, relaunched her brand, expanding it to include sportswear, fragrance, and beauty lines. She also currently heads the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
