American born designer, Tommy Hilfiger, founded his womenswear line in 1984.  In 1992, he introduced his signature menswear collection.  Within three years, he was named Menswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.  In 2006, Hilfiger sold his company for $1.6 billion to Apax Partners.  Apart from clothing, the company offers fragrances, belts, bedding, home furnishings, and cosmetics.  Hilfiger’s clothing is sold in major department stores as well as 165 Tommy Hilfiger shops and outlets worldwide.
