Model
Irina Lazareanu is a model, fashion icon, musician, activist, and former flame of both Sean Lennon and Pete Doherty. Dubbed by some as a “bad girl”, this dark-haired beauty has been a muse for both Karl Lagerfeld and Nicolas Ghesquiere. Lazareanu was born on June 8, 1982 and was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. In 1995, she moved to London to attend the Royal Academy of Arts for ballet. Two years later, she met rocker Pete Doherty and started her on-and-off romance with him. In 1999, she signed with the modeling agency Giovanni, but did not appear on the runway until 2004, when she walked for Anne Valerie Hash and Chanel. The same year, Lazareanu co-wrote the song “La Belle et la Bete” with Doherty and Kate Moss on backup vocals. In December 2005, Moss picked her to star in an editorial for Vogue Paris. In 2006 Lazareanu truly hit her big break in the industry. She walked for designers including Christian Lacroix and Miu Miu. After David Sims photographed her for Balenciaga, Ghesquiere declared her his muse. She also appeared in Vogue Italia, W, and Gap ads at this time. Musically, Lazareanu collaborated with Sean Lennon to create a folk album called Some Place Along the Way. Lazareanu continues to be a huge success in the fashion world. Her unique style is often featured in magazines and copied by the public. Her romances with various celebrities are also closely followed. Clearly, Lazareanu is a huge icon of our time.
