Stephanie Seymour was born in San Diego, California on July 23, 1968. At age 14, Seymour had already started a modeling career working for local newspapers and department stores. In 1983, she entered the Elite Model Management Look of the Year contest and won; she’s been a fashion icon since. In 1988, Seymour was featured in her first major publication, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The following month, she booked her first major fashion magazine cover, Vogue. However, her breakthrough moment was when she appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan. Seymour has appeared on over 300 magazine covers including Elle, GQ, V, Numéro, and Harper’s Bazaar. Since being the face of Almay cosmetics in 1989, Seymour has done campaigns representing the most prominent designers of the world such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Marc Jacobs, Sisley, Salvatore Ferragamo, H&M, L’Oreal, and Valentino. Seymour has also worked with some of fashion’s leading photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Steven Meisel, Terry Richardson, Mario Testino, and Richard Avedon. In 1992, Seymour signed a contract with a fashion brand to create the world’s largest lingerie empire---what is best known today as Victoria’s Secret.
