Lara Stone was born in Geldrop, The Netherlands on December 20, 1983. At the age of 12, Stone was approached by an agent. With determination, she then entered the Elite Model Management Look Contest in 1999 at 15 years-old. Although she didn’t win the competition, the executives at Elite were impressed and signed her to their agency. What started off as a struggle in the beginning, she signed with IMG Models in 2006 and instantly, Stone’s career took a tremendous turn. Soon after signing with IMG, Stone debuted at the Givenchy Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2006 show. Since then, she has walked for Ann Demeumester, Miu Miu, Cacharel, Karl Lagerfeld, Christopher Kane, Giles, Marc Jacobs, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Chanel. In February 2007, Stone had both opened and closed for three of the industry’s most well-known designers: Alberta Ferretti, Costume National, and Hermés. Runways aside, Stone’s breakthrough moment was in 2006 when she was photographed for Sisley by top photographer, Terry Richardson. Additionally, Stone has starred in advertisement campaigns for Givenchy, MaxMara, Nicole Farhi, Calvin Klein Jeans, Just Cavalli, H&M, Levi’s, Hugo Boss, Jil Sander, Revlon, and La Perla, to only name a few. Stone has graced the covers of Elle, Vogue, Vogue Paris, Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, i-D, and has been in numerous editorials and magazine spreads, worldwide. In 2006, Style.com featured her as a rising star of spring 2007; in 2009, Vogue France Vinoodh Matadin, and Hedi Slimane.
