Stella McCartney is a fashion designer who began her career as an intern at Christian Lacroix. In 1995, McCartney’s premiere collection was shown by supermodel friends Naomi Campbell, Yasmin Le Bon and Kate Moss. The show made front-page news and the entire collection was sold to a London boutique and various upscale department stores. Two years later, McCartney was appointed chief designer for Chloé. In 2000, she received the VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year award. One year later, she resigned from Chloé in order to enter into a joint venture with Gucci. In September of 2004, McCartney launched another joint-venture line with Adidas, establishing a long-term relationship with the corporation. Since then she has actively collaborated with H&M and Target. McCartney is known as “Stella Steel” and “Unstoppable Stella” for her contagious determination and creativity. McCartney does not use fur or leather in her designs and strongly supports PETA.
