Oribe was born in 1956 in Cuba. In 1976, he moved to New York City where he was hired as an assistant to famed hair stylist, Garren. Shortly after his apprenticeship, Oribe was hired by Vogue, Elle, and Glamour, to produce hairstyles for their editorials. Since his early days, Oribe has contributed to just about every major fashion magazine and has worked in nearly every major fashion show of his time. In 2003, he shot the cover of Jennifer Lopez’s first album cover, On the 6. He is considered to be responsible for the contribution of her comeback. Later that year he left his Elizabeth Arden salon in to open his signature salon in Miami Beach in which he currently keeps successful. Oribe is considered to be one of the most influential and sought after hairdressers of all time.
