Irina Shayk

Model

Irina Shayk is a sizzling Russian model known for her curves.  Born on January 6, 1986, in Yemanzhelinsk, Russia, she is most known for dating international soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and for posing on the cover of the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition.  Shayk stumbled upon modeling by chance.  After all, her look contrasts against the typical Russian model, who often has light skin and blonde hair.  Because of her different appearance, Shayk claims she was often teased as a teenager.  Nonetheless, she was encouraged by someone from a local modeling agency to try out for Miss Chelyabinsk 2004.  To her surprise, she won and was encouraged by a modeling scout to pursue modeling professionally.  In 2005, Shayk moved to Paris to start her career.  In 2007, she became the face of Intimissimi and became its official ambassador in 2010.  Other ad campaigns she has modeled for include La Perla, Lacoste, and Guess.  Furthermore, she has appeared in every Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition since 2007, and became the first Russian cover girl for it in 2011.  Besides that magazine, Shayk has also appeared in Elle Italia, GQ, Marie Claire French, and more.
